Experience Highlights

Copywriting

• I have conceptualized and written a diverse array of compelling marketing copy covering a wide variety of topics. Collateral includes web content, catalogs, brochures, e-newsletters, print ads, press releases, direct mail campaigns, streaming media, sales tools and more.
• I have successfully led the strategic positioning of several products/services, and collaborated on related ad/marketing campaigns.
• In addition to providing small-business clients with written content, I have also served as a marketing consultant, using my expertise to help them develop and implement effective marketing strategies.
• Due to my experience as a freelance writer and editor of a community newspaper, I have become adept at creating informative, entertaining feature pieces. My feature articles have appeared in newspapers, magazines and on the web, and covered many subject areas, from arts and travel to careers and emerging technology.

Web Content Management/Production

• I have been instrumental in creating and implementing effective, dynamic web content plans, with increases in traffic seen as a result.
• I have established a web presence for small-business clients who had none, creating their websites from scratch and coming up with a plan for maintaining/managing content. I also created this site; using Wordpress, I created my own custom theme and wrote all the content.
• I served as a crucial resource for a web team at a high-profile corporation, where my technical savvy and communication skills enabled me to facilitate the progress of the projects at hand by acting as a liason between programmers, content providers and team leaders. Originally hired as a content writer, I was soon relied upon for front-end coding, light media production, relaying/“translating” technical information and overall content coordination.

Skills/Training/Education Highlights

• I know (X)HTML and CSS, have experience with PHP and mySQL, and am comfortable working with just about any CMS. I have experience with several different blogging/publishing platforms, including Wordpress, Movable Type, Textpattern and Blogger.
• I am fluent in most applications commonly used in web and print production, including Photoshop, Illustrator, Dreamweaver and others in the Adobe Creative Suite. I am also proficient in MS Office Suite.
• I have training (from UW Extension) and extensive experience in audio production, and am proficient in major audio production software including Digidesign Pro Tools and Apple Logic Pro.
• I am comfortable working in both Windows and Mac environments.
• My educational background includes a BA in English with a Spanish minor from UVM, along with additional formal training in Teaching English as a Second Language from Seattle University’s School of TESL.
