I’ve spent the last few weeks coming up with a design for my site, coding a custom Wordpress theme, and of course, writing all the content. The project complete, it’s now time for the official unveiling. So, without further ado… Ta-da!
I’ve customized many existing Wordpress themes before, but this is the first theme I’ve created one of my own from scratch. When I sought out tutorials to help me along, I discovered most of them just didn’t suit my learning style. I finally came upon this tutorial, which proved to be the perfect starting point for me. Because it provided a good overview of the basics, I found it easy to wander much deeper into the code afterwards.
While the whole project turned out to be a much larger undertaking than I anticipated, I’m very glad I did it. I foresee using what I learned to build many more custom Wordpress sites in the future… and it will only get easier!
